Geofit at the Neftegaz 2023 Exhibition: New Resistivity Logging Tool Commercialization Announced

From April 24 to 27, the 22nd International Exhibition of Oil and Gas Equipment and Technologies was held in Moscow. At the exhibition, considered as one of the key domestic industry events, Geofit presented its advanced products based on Russian technologies.

The presentation of the entire product line at the Success of Russian BHA Localization Event, in which more than 30 customers participated, became the focal point. This event highlighted the importance of developing and producing advanced equipment domestically, as well as Geofit Product Center’s ability to deliver on its previous commitment to deployment of a LWD BHA comprising of the tools made in Russia.

Special attention was given to the new SIB-R EM Wave Propagation Resistivity Tool. Upon successfully achieving target parameters during field tests and obtaining approval from key customers, the tool was launched in full-scale production.

SIB-R represents a significant improvement in advanced oil and gas technologies and emphasizes Geofit’s leadership in developing and bringing innovative solutions to the market. The new tool is a 100% Russian technology and provides 12 real-time resistivity measurements with memory mode. The tool has a state-of-the-art design that reduces operating costs and allows for operation with various BHA configurations. In addition, the SIB-R tool has an annular pressure sensor, which enables real-time optimization of drilling performance.

At the Neftegaz 2023 Exhibition Geofit Product Center demonstrated the ability to innovate, confirming its status as a leading manufacturer of MWD and LWD equipment in Russia and abroad.

28 February 2023 First Commercial Job of SIB-R 6 3/4", Russian High-Tech EM Wave Propagation Resistivity Tool

After multiple field tests of the 172-mm SIB-R tool combined with reference EM wave propagation resistivity tools, the first commercial job was performed at the Van-Yeganskoye oilfield in West Siberia.
An interval over 2,000 meters was drilled and more than 175 circulating hours were accumulated during the run. No incident was registered during the drilling. Phase Shift and Attenuation resistivity measurements acquired while drilling were timely provided to the customer to make critical geosteering decisions in real-time and perform formation evaluation using tool memory data.

28 December 2022 First Commercial Job of SIB-R 4 3/4", Russian High-Tech EM Wave Propagation Resistivity Tool

After multiple field tests of the 121-mm SIB-R tool combined with reference EM wave propagation resistivity tools, the first commercial job was performed at the Chayandinskoye Oil and Gas Condensate Field in East Siberia.
Over 3,250 meters were drilled, and more than 270 hours of circulation were accumulated when drilling a multi-lateral horizontal well.
The well was drilled with no incidents. Phase Shift and Attenuation resistivity measurements acquired while drilling were timely provided to the customer to make critical geosteering decisions in real-time and perform formation evaluation using tool memory data.
